Day 1

Arrival & Temple Trail

Afternoon – Temple Tour Begins:

Lingaraj Temple (11th century) – The grandest temple of Bhubaneswar, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Admire its towering shikhara and rituals.
Rajarani Temple – Famous for red and gold sandstone carvings of celestial dancers and musicians.

Mukteswar Temple – Called the “Gem of Odisha Architecture” for its unique archway and intricate stonework.

Evening:

Stroll at Bindusagar Lake – a sacred water tank surrounded by shrines.
Rooftop hi-tea with a view of temple spires.

Night:

Dinner with authentic Odia Thali (dalma, pakhala, machha besara, chhena poda).
Overnight stay in Bhubaneswar.

Day 2

Caves, Ashokan History & Museums

Morning:

Breakfast at hotel.
Excursion to Khandagiri & Udayagiri Caves – ancient Jain rock-cut caves with inscriptions, meditation chambers, and sculptures.

Visit Dhauli Shanti Stupa – the site where Emperor Ashoka embraced Buddhism after the Kalinga War. The peace pagoda stands beautifully on the Daya River banks.

Afternoon:

Lunch at a traditional Odia restaurant. Try chhena jhili, dalma, and mutton curry.
Odisha State Museum – Explore ancient sculptures, rare palm-leaf manuscripts, tribal artifacts, and natural history collections.

Evening:

Attend Light & Sound Show at Dhauli/Khandagiri – reliving the Kalinga War and transformation of Ashoka.
Local market walk – try Bhubaneswar’s street food (gupchup, bara-ghuguni, dahi bara aloo dum).

Night:

Dinner at hotel or local fine-dining restaurant.

Day 3

Nature & Crafts

Morning:

Early breakfast.
Visit Nandankanan Zoological Park & Botanical Garden – enjoy tiger & lion safaris, visit the white tigers, and stroll through nature trails and a large botanical garden.

Afternoon:

Lunch inside the zoo’s cafeteria or return to city for authentic Odia thali.
Kalabhoomi (Odisha Crafts Museum) – A must-visit for art & culture lovers. Experience Odisha’s heritage through patachitra paintings, appliqué work, silver filigree, stone/wood carvings, terracotta, tribal arts, handloom sarees, and immersive craft displays.

Evening:

Shopping at Ekamra Haat – buy Ikat, Sambalpuri, Bomkai sarees, handwoven textiles, pattachitra paintings, and souvenirs.
Attend a live Odissi Dance Performance (on request) at a cultural center/hotel amphitheater.

Night:

Dinner featuring fusion of Odia & continental cuisines.
Overnight stay in Bhubaneswar.

Day 4

Flavors of Bhubaneswar & Departure

Morning:

Early temple/market visit: Ananta Vasudeva Temple or explore Unit 1 & Ekamra Market for flower markets and daily hustle.
Breakfast at hotel.

Late Morning:

Last-minute shopping for silver jewelry (Cuttack filigree), applique works from Pipili stalls in Ekamra Haat, and dry sweets like chhena poda & rasabali.

Afternoon:

Check-out from hotel.
Departure to Bhubaneswar Airport / Railway Station with a traditional send-off.
